Meet Your Dietitian
At Northwestern University you have free access to a Registered Dietitian for nutrition consultations. The dietitian provides individual consultations to students for issues such as, but not limited to, the following:
- Healthy Eating
- Weight Management
- Nutrition and Fitness
- Vegetarian and Vegan Nutrition
- Eating Disorders and Disordered Eating
Karen Sechowski RD, LDN
Karen Sechowski is the campus dietitian for Northwestern University. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in applied health science from Indiana University and completed her dietetic internship through Prairie View A&M University in the Houston, Texas area.
Aside from working in campus services, Karen has experience in both corporate and clinical dietetics. She has her Certificate of Training in Food Allergies from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. She is also ServSafe certified, ServSafe Allergens certified, and AllertrainU certified.
Karen's passion is prevention through education. Because nutrition plays a key role in a healthy lifestyle, her goal is to help people improve their diets and work through whatever struggles or obstacles are preventing them from bettering their health through nutrition.

Food Allergies and Intolerances
If you have a food allergy or intolerance, it is important to learn about the options available to you while dining on campus. Our staff can provide several options to accommodate your food allergy and food intolerance needs. We recommend arranging an appointment by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org with our campus dietitian to help guide you through the campus dining experience.
Food Preferences and Religious Dining Needs
We offer vegetarian and vegan options for every meal. A Kosher kitchen is located at Allison Dining Hall and Kosher options are available in retail locations. Hallal items are available upon request at all dining halls. We recommend emailing email@example.com in advance to discuss your special situations with our dietitian.
